Linda Spencer (White)

Linda died from breast cancer on 3/14/2004.

SHERMAN - Services for Linda Gayle Spencer White, 53 year-old lifelong Sherman resident and retired Oscar Mayer employee, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Linda died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at her residence.

Rev. Ed Lynch of the First United Methodist Church in Howe will officiate and the burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements are under the care of Waldo Funeral Home.

Linda was born on April 15, 1950 in Sherman, the daughter of William Haskell Spencer and Mary Bernard Spencer.  She attended Sherman schools, graduated from Sherman High School in 1968 and married Jerry White on July 19, 1968 in Sherman.  She worked at the Texas Instruments plant in Sherman several years ago and later was employed by Oscar Mayer for fourteen years.  Following her retirement she was an assistant at the Covenant Presbyterian Preschool.

Linda Gayle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a devoted homemaker and provider who cared for her entire family.  One of the biggest joys was to watch her grandchildren play baseball, and she never missed a game.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry White of Sherman; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry White, Jr. and Anna White of Sherman; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Key and Justin Key of Sherman; her mother, Mary Browning of Sherman; six brothers, David Spencer of Denison, Donny Spencer of Sherman, Jerry Spencer of Dallas, Bill Spencer of Fruitville, Paul Spencer of McKinney and Jim Browning of Fannin Coounty; she is also survived by a sister, Laura Harris of Ferriday, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Angela White, Amanda White, Bailey Key and Brittany Key; also several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Stephenson, Larry Tomlinson, Gordon White, Greg Harwell, Eric Akins, and Dave Shroufe.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Waldo Funeral Home and at other times will be at the White residence.

If desired, memorials may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the American Cancer Society.
