Tommy died after a long battle with cancer.

After a long battle with cancer on August 8, 2006 one true love, father, son, brother, uncle, family man and friend went to be with his Savior in the presence of family and friends in his home at 55 years of age.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Akers Cemetery in Sherman. His pastor, Dr. Eddy Johnson of Grayson Bible Baptist Church will officiate and John L. McDonald his brother-in-law from Watauga, Texas will assist.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

He was born on December 1, 1950, in Sherman, Texas to Floyd B. Shaver and Ruby Arlene Shaver. He grew up in the Sherman area. In 1968 he graduated from Sherman High School. He attended Arlington Baptist College and Grayson County College.

On June 23, 1978, he married Phyllis McDonald.

He worked retail in grocery and convenience stores and lumberyards. The last 12 years he was a nurse for an area nursing home, Angels of Care, and then MHMR of Texoma.

He was a member of the Grayson Bible Baptist Church.

He was a strong family man. Loved his family greatly as well as his extended family members. He loved to play games and to cook for everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Shaver; daughter, Christina Michelle Shaver; son, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Shaver; adopted daughter, Deborah Densmore all of Sherman; mother, Ruby Arlene Shaver of Sherman; brothers, John Marvin Shaver of Sherman and Tim L. Shaver and wife Marla of Tom Bean, TX.; granddaughter, Chloe Michelle Shaver of Sherman; brother-in-law, John L. McDonald and wife Gail; sister-in-law, Susan J. Morris and husband Dennis of Savanah, GA.; 2 nieces and nephews; numerous friends thought of as family. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd B. Shaver; grandparents, John E. and Bonnie B. Wood; mother-in-law, Wanda L. McDonald Bush; fathers-in-law, Jesse D. McDonald Jr. and Frank Bush.

Family night will be from 7 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Dannel Funeral Home.
