In Memory

Vickie Newman (Davis)

Vicki died on 12/3/2009.

Services for Vicki Newman Davis, who passed from this life on Thursday Dec. 3, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, were held at 10 a.m. on Sat. Dec. 5, 2009 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Dannel Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Vicki was born in Sherman to Judge Lester C. and Marjorie Haizlip Newman. Her father served as Grayson County Judge during the late 1960s and early 1970s. After serving as County Judge, he then opened a private law practice. Vicki was an ideal daughter to her parents and she carried that love of family through to her grandchildren. To them she was known as Nana, and she never grew tired of playing games and putting together puzzles with them. She never forgot a birthday and was very loving, thoughtful, and nurturing towards everyone she knew.
Vicki worked at Johnson and Johnson for 33 years until the plant closed in 2003. Afterwards, she enrolled at the International School of Business and graduated valedictorian of her class. She was an avid reader and she loved to learn. She will be missed.
Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son; Simon Davis and wife Sandra of Cypress; daughter: Julie Thompson and husband Doug of Sherman; brother; Steven Newman of Sherman; three grandchildren: Sarah McGraw, Ethan Thompson, and Ryan Coile.
The family received friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
